7th cat found mutilated in Collier County

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. – A seventh cat was found mutilated in Collier County.

Detectives say the most recent was found on Wednesday on Alamanda Drive in Naples.

The majority of the cats were found on Estey Avenue near East Naples Middle School since the beginning of the month.

People are so upset, volunteers handed out flyers to students on Thursday, hoping someone will speak up.

“My heart bleeds,” said volunteer, Mary Mootispaw. “It’s sad, it’s disgusting.”

Daniel Christenbury from Collier County’s Domestic Animal Services says he’s never seen anything like the cat killings before.

“I can’t say specifically what’s going on, because I don’t know,” said Christenbury.

Collier County detectives are investigating all seven incidents. Christenbury says whether or not they solve the case, cat owners should always keep their pets indoors.

“No matter how this has happened, it can be prevented so keep your cats inside and keep them safe,” said Christenbury.

The Naples Cat Alliance is now offering a $5,000 reward for the conviction and arrest of the East Naples Cat Killer.
