FMPD looks for 2 suspects in Discount Battery burglary

FORT MYERS, Fla.- A man who stayed at work late Tuesday night, ended up shooting at would-be crooks.

The Fort Myers Police Department responded to Discount Battery located on Palm Beach Boulevard in reference to a burglary around 8:30 p.m.

Police say two men in a pickup truck broke through a fence surrounding the business and attempted to hook a trailer up to their vehicle.

That’s when the business owner began shooting at the suspects who quickly fled the scene.

The owner of Discount Battery preferred not to comment Wednesday. He says the new sign outside the business reading “nothing here is worth dying for” is all he has to say.

The suspect vehicle is described as a gray four-door pickup truck possibly either a Dodge or Ford product. Both black male suspects were described as six feet tall, weighing 250 pounds. One suspect wore a gray shirt, tan shorts and white shoes while the other was wearing a black shirt, tan shorts and white shoes.

Anyone with information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the burglary suspects could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
