FMPD investigates attempted store robbery with shots fired

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Fort Myers Police are investigating a wild shooting after an attempted robbery Tuesday night.

They tell WINK News at least two suspects rammed a truck into a fence at the Discount Battery located at 3911 Palm Beach Boulevard in an attempt to rob the store.

An employee staying late fired shots at the suspects who then fled the scene in a truck.

One witness says, “we were inside our room and we heard a bang, bang, bang. A lot of gunshots and we ran outside and was talking to 911 and the owner came out. I said ‘I called the police for you sir’ and he said ‘thank you.'”

Police are calling this a “Stand Your Ground” shooting. There is still no description of the suspects at this time.

Police tell us no one was injured.
