CAPE CORAL, Fla.- Strong storms ripped through parts of southwest Florida Tuesday afternoon. Many WINK News viewers sent in photos and videos of a funnel cloud that formed over Cape Coral.

“The wind was still blowing, we had a lot of rough dark rain to the right and a lot of rough dark rain to the left but right on the middle it was calm and sunny enough to where you can see the funnel cloud,” said William Rebman.

Many who saw the funnel cloud say it never touched down.

“It was terrifying because if it did come down, what would have happened?” said Rebman.

The weather was so intense students at Trafalgar Middle School were held later than normal to keep the kids safe.

Several Cape Coral intersection were also flooded with water. Chiquita Boulevard and Trafalgar Parkway had so much standing water, many cars avoided the area.

There are no reports of any major damage. Many people in Lee, Charlotte and Collier counties are without power, crews will be working through the night to restore power.
