Former employees say North Naples doctor won’t pay them

NORTH NAPLES, Fla.- Former employees at a North Naples doctor’s office on US 41 say the doctor isn’t paying his staff.

They tell WINK News, they have done what they can to get their checks but the office won’t pay them.

“I just want my pay,” said Cheryl Shine who worked for Dr. James Porcelli for 2 1/2 months.

Shine says she was the doctor’s nurse but wasn’t allowed to have his cellphone number or any contact information.

She says the doctor owes her more than $700 and she has called the office numerous times to get her last paycheck. Shine tells WINK News she quit because of all the late payments and one strange payment she received.

“I did receive a hand written pay stub with no specified break down of taxes withheld,” said Shine.

It’s not just Shine who says she didn’t get paid. Chantelle Davis claims she didn’t get her last check either.

Davis worked for Dr. Porcelli for 9 months and also quit. She says she is owed about $600.

“He has no right to withhold pay from employees who have legally worked for the hours. It is ridiculous I have to do this to get a paycheck,” Davis says of contacting the media.

Davis went into more details saying late paychecks and lack of pay aren’t the only problem in the office.

“He has debt collectors calling the office, he is discarding HIPPA information into the trash can, he has the stairwell completely blocked. If there is a fire, they have no way out,” said Davis. She sent WINK News pictures of the violations.

WINK News reached out to Dr. Porcelli. He says the accusations aren’t true. We asked him for an interview but he declined.

The former employees say their calls are getting declined; they say the office manager sends it straight to voice mail and they have left numerous messages. They add, the office says if they come on the property to get their checks, they will call the police.

“How dare you do this to somebody who has a daughter, someone who is trying to support a family. All you have to do is pay your employees when you promise and none of this would happen, shame on you,” said Davis of her former employer.
