FHP: Driver runs red light, hits school bus

FORT MYERS, Fla.- FHP tells WINK News a driver ran a red light around 7:30 Friday morning at Ortiz Avenue and Palm Beach Boulevard, and hit a school bus.

Troopers say the bus was turning left to head westbound on Palm Beach from Ortiz when the driver of a white Mustang ran a red light eastbound on Palm Beach and hit the bus.

The bus was going to AMIKids, an alternative school near Fort Myers Beach.

There were about five students on the bus, 14 to 18 years old. FHP says two were taken to Lee Memorial Hospital to get checked out, but everyone is okay.

The bus did not suffer much damage and was driven away a little more than an hour later.
