FORT MYERS, Fla.- A flight out of Southwest Florida International Airport was delayed Wednesday after jet fuel spilled out onto the tarmac.

Airport officials tell WINK News the spill happened where the jet fuel line is connected into the plane.

The spill happened around 12:30 p.m. No passengers were on board at the time but the flight was delayed for about 15 minutes.

The airport fire department responded to clean up.

“Next thing you know, the fire department came out. There were six trucks, made a big circle, put their hazardous suits on and started moving in,” said Mart Martinson.

It took crews about 30 minutes to clean up the mess.
