FORT MYERS, Fla.- Lee County deputies arrested a convicted felon for possession of cocaine and marijuana. Deputies went to a home on the 2000 block of Braman Avenue in reference to a possible location of a suspect with an active warrant. Authorities say 56-year-old Freddie King opened the door and granted deputies permission to search inside the residence for the wanted person. King entered his bedroom and grabbed a pair of shorts from the floor and placed them atop a shoe box located next to his bed. The shorts did not stay on the box and fell to the floor revealing a black revolver with a bone colored handle and numerous small bags of cocaine along with paraphernalia. Deputies immediately detained King and requested the assistance of a narcotics unit. Later that afternoon, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at the residence. The search of the apartment revealed $6,834 in cash, 596.6 grams of marijuana, 4.4 grams cocaine and a Colt Police Special .38 caliber. King is also charged with possession of paraphernalia and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
