Redhead leaving South Fort Myers for job in Ohio

Grant Redhead was the first and only football coach at South Fort Myers High School which opened in 2005 but that will change after his decision to take a coaching job in Ohio. Redhead went 82-33 with the Wolfpack, including a 10-3 season in 2014. He told his team on Monday that he’s leaving to take a head coaching job closer to his hometown in Ohio.

“It’s a hard decision to make but football didn’t make the decision, family did” Redhead told WINK Sports. Both of Redheads parents died in the last three years but his wife’s parents still live in Ohio. “I want my kids to grow up with their grandparents, uncle and cousins” said Redhead.

Redhead is taking the head coaching position at Bryan High School in Ohio. The Golden Bears went 6-4 last season and 12-1 the season before. “They have a lot of upperclassmen coming back” said Redhead.

Redhead says he doesn’t know who will take his old job with South Fort Myers but the Wolfpack assistants are running spring practice right now. “It’s not about one person it’s about the program” Redhead told his team on Monday.
