EAST NAPLES, Fla.- A scare Monday when a 10-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital by a trauma flight.

Corbin Burton’s mother tells WINK News her son was at the Boys and Girls Club of Collier County when she got a call he had been hurt.

“I’m scared and nervous and I’m on my way up there,” said Corbin’s mother Laurey Ploski. “He was always responsive, hopefully he is okay.”

Laurey tells only WINK News that she was in route to pick her son up at the Boys and Girls Club when she got the call.

She was told her son was playing football when he was clotheslined.

“A kid, I guess he had the ball and he was clotheslined around the neck and then flipped,” explained Ploski. “He just said his neck hurt and he was really tingly all over. He said he wasn’t scared.”

Despite his potentially dangerous injuries, Corbin’s mom says he was being himself as he was transferred from the ambulance to the helicopter.

“He was kind of excited for the helicopter ride. He is 10. He’s brave.”

Laurey says Corbin has taken hits before; he plays for the Naples Gators.

“His neck hurts so we will have to get some film of that,” said Ploski. “We need to make sure there is nothing out of wack.”

Laurey tells WINK News her son is getting an MRI but does not know the extent of his injuries yet.

The Boys and Girls Club CEO tells WINK News there was someone supervising the children while they were playing. The supervisor called 911 after the child was hit. The CEO says they are in close contact with the family.
