Uber, Goodwill team up to help you make quick and easy donations

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – Cleaning out your closet and donating your clothes just became quick and easy. If you haven’t started your spring cleaning yet, Uber and Goodwill want to help.

Donating is now just a tap away.

“I think it’s a great idea and it would definitely be good for the community,” said resident Vince Cameron.

Uber and Goodwill want to drop off your unwanted clothes – for free. The service will be offered Saturday, May 2 from 11 a.m.- 3 p.m.

“I talk to people frequently who always say to me, you know what, I’ve got a pile of stuff sitting around waiting for me to take to one of the stores,” said Kirsten O’Donnell, “I just haven’t gotten around to doing it.”

The donation process is made simple. All that needs to be done is tap the ‘give’ button on the Uber app. An SUV will show up at your door and drop off the clothes at a nearby Goodwill.
Uber and Goodwill asks for the clothes to be bagged and to meet the driver at the curb when they arrive.

“I know in my own neighborhood you see a lot of products that are just set by the curb that you know could definitely come to Goodwill,” said Cameron.

Uber spokeswoman says this service is just one more way to use their technology for a good cause. It will be offered in more than 50 cities across the country this weekend.

“This is a great opportunity, no excuses, you can just open up your Uber app select the give option and have um delivered,” said O’Donnell.

For those who donate, you will receive an email early next week with tax receipt information.
