Eagle rescued from a Cape Coral canal

Published: Updated:

CAPE CORAL, Fla. – The Cape Coral Fire Department, FWC and onlookers rescued a bald eagle from a Cape Coral canal, twice.

The eagle was pulled from the canal by neighbors only for it to jump back into the water.

The eagle was then rescued from the water a second time.

FWC placed the bird into a cardboard box and it was taken to a local animal hospital. A veterinarian from the Viscaya-Prado Veterinary Hospital looked over the bird for injuries. They say it will be put into a dark, quiet room for the night. In the morning, they will take the eagle to the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) on Sanibel for further evaluation and treatment.
