LEE COUNTY, Fla. – The lights are back on at Florida Gulf Coast University after the power went out early Saturday morning.

Students called WINK News around 12:30 a.m. saying the power was out all across campus.  FGCU Police say the lights were out for about 30 minutes.

The outage comes as students are studying for their finals. “We were just chilling out in the dorms, doing some essays because it’s finals week and all of a sudden the lights kicked out,” one student told us. “We looked out side and saw all the lights were out, they all went out in like a wave.”

WINK News reached out to Florida Power and Light and the company says a power line section went out and power was rerouted.

Again, the lights are back up Saturday morning.
