Families remember loved ones lost to crime

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – A solemn day for some families in Lee County this morning, as they stopped to remember loved ones who were taken from them too soon.

Aaron Addison, Glinda Thomas-Allen, and Andrew Faust Jr. Those are just some of the names of those who were remembered, all victims of violent crimes.

On Saturday, they were remembered at the rose garden in Lakes Park, with a memorial service.

The event is organized by the local Victim Services Coalition. The event reminds the public that even when a case is closed, there’s still pain and healing after a crime takes the life of a loved one.

It also gave the families of victims a chance to say thank you.

“I really want people to know that behind-the-scenes, that the law enforcement they are doing their job,” said Toyetta Simpson.

Her son, Andrew Faust Jr., was just 5 years old when he was shot and killed. “People need to recognize them, you know, they are getting the job done.”
