COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. -The woman who chased a would-be robber is very humble about the situation and even credits a couple other guys.

Meagan Nashman, 28, tells WINK News she can’t believe all the attention she’s getting after helping catch Manuel Devillers. He admitted to our camera of stealing $1,000 from a woman in Walmart.

Nashman says, “it’s kind of surreal to me actually. I didn’t think this would blow up the way that it did.”

While on the phone with 911, Nashman was chasing Devillers. The dispatcher asked her what is the address of the emergency.

“Hi, someone just stole from Walmart,” said Nashman, “I’m running after him right now.”

Two other good Samaritans helped catch Devillers while Nashman was on the phone with police.

She tells the dispatcher “he’s headed towards Pine Ridge/ Airport. Okay, someone in a red truck is taking off after him.”

Then she proceeds to say, “hold on, they’ve got him pinned down at Applebee’s.”

Many of you called Nashman a hero but she disagrees, “I don’t feel like I’m a hero. I did the right thing. I feel like I acted and a lot of people usually don’t act.”

She tells WINK News she couldn’t have done it without the two guys in the red truck.

Police say Devillers is from Fort Myers and is homeless. Devillers remains in the Collier County Jail facing robbery charges.
