CAPE CORAL, Fla.- A new plan is in place to help rescue a trapped dolphin.

The bottlenose dolphin has been trapped near the Chiquita Lock for nearly three weeks.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) says it will try once again to rescue the animal, this time using a new technique called a “pinger.”

The underwater device sends out sounds to encourage the dolphin to swim in the opposite direction and hopefully through the lock’s gate.

That could happen in the next few days or early next week.
