COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. – A jury awarded $60 million to the mother of a teenager who was paralyzed in a car crash in 2003. Court documents obtained by WINK News show the owners of Spectators Sports Pub, a bar in North Naples, was negligent when bartenders served then 19-year-old Angela Crowe drinks one evening in 2003. That same night, Crowe was in a car with her boyfriend who was also drinking at the bar and veered off Golden Gate Parkway, hitting a tree. Crowe was paralyzed. Now, eight years after filing the lawsuit, a jury awarded her mother, Joan Antonuccio, $60 million in damages. Approximately $7 million goes toward Crowe’s medical expenses. The rest is for pain and suffering. WINK NEWS found out, collecting the money may not be easy, as Spectators dissolved as a company in 2008. Antonuccio now lives in the Tampa area. Crowe is now living in an assisted living facility.
