Dog bites Lee County 10-year-old

LEE COUNTY, Fla.- A young boy was bitten by the neighbor’s dog.

It happened Thursday night around 8 p.m. in the Pine Manor community.

The boy’s mother Karissa Lockart says her 10-year-old son is now recovering from emergency surgery at HealthPark Medical Center.

She says her son Isaiah had a deep bite in his jaw and received seven stitches on his lip.

Lockart says her son told her the dog broke away from its chain and attacked him.

His stepfather was also bitten by the dog when he went to confront the owner.

“He’s going to have possible nerve damage in his face,” said Lockart. “He has stitches inside and out of his lip.”

Neighbors we spoke to Friday paint a different picture of the animal. They say the dog normally stays within the fenced yard or is on a leash.

“I don’t think the dog just walked out here and bit someone. I think it was probably aggravated by someone,” said Peter Rivera.

Lee County Animal Services currently has the dog and is investigating.

While the child’s mother says the dog better be gone when she gets back, neighbors tell WINK News they don’t think it should be put down.
