COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- A wanted fugitive with a violent past was caught after hours on the run.

Deputies hunted down 28-year-old Prince Williamson of Tennessee as he climbed a fence into the Grey Oaks community.

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office tells WINK News Williamson sped away from a traffic stop along Alligator Alley Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities say he ran out of his Jeep along 68th Street Southwest and Golden Gate Parkway. Deputies detained the female passenger he was with, but Williamson stayed hidden in the brush.

Deputies set up a massive perimeter and searched for Williamson with a helicopter and dogs. The search was so treacherous, a search dog injured its leg, but will be okay.  A deputy’s cruiser also caught fire. Neighbors were told to stay away from their homes for hours.

“I’ve lived in Naples for 27 years,” said neighbor, David Jackson. “I’ve never seen anything like this with such a response from so many crews. There’s literally like 20 cars out here.”

Williamson is now facing charges for fleeing and eluding.
