LEE COUNTY, Fla. – A Lee County man accused of a crazy crime at a south Fort Myers Walmart Super Store now has a bond set.

Only WINK News was there when 38-year-old Geovanni Cortes went before a judge Saturday morning. His bond is set at $90,000.

Lee County Deputies tell WINK News Cortes went into the Walmart on US 41 and Six Mile Cypress Parkway early Friday morning and stole a machete from the hunting department. He then went to the electronic department and stole more merchandise. A worker saw Cortes trying to leave the store with a cart full of items and tried to stop him.

Deputies say, that’s when he whipped out the stolen machete and started to swing it around. After, he jumped in a car and took off. According to Deputies, they found the car and him about 4 miles away on Daniels Parkway.

Cortes’ next court date is set for May 11th. He’s facing multiple charges including grand theft.
