Men draw guns after road rage in North Naples

NORTH NAPLES, Fla. – A case of road rage in North Naples had people calling 911 after they saw men with guns threatening two men in a parking lot. It happened at the intersection of Airport Pulling and Immokalee Road.

Our WINK News Nightbeat team Elias Yacob and Christina Lusby were on scene as five men were detained and guns were recovered.

There were two scenes Wednesday night just 100 yards apart. On Immokalee Road there were three men in handcuffs and in the nearby shopping center there were two more.

A witnesses who didn’t want to be identified tells WINK News “I looked across the street and saw a gentleman running with an AR-15. I wasn’t scared; I saw the guy with the AR but I’m not running out there to talk to him. He has an AR-15 in his hand, someone needs to call the cops.”

The AR-15 was still inside the black SUV that was parking in the shopping center.

Deputies say it was road rage that started it all. According to reports, the suspects identified as Michael Ryan and Juan Vazquez say the victim cut them off on Immokalee Road.

So, the suspects followed the victim into the shopping center. Deputies say that is when the victim stepped out of his car to ask the man “what their problem was” and that is when the situation escalated.

Reports show Vazquez and Ryan threatened to kill the victim and his passenger chasing them with an AR-15 and a pistol.

“You don’t pull a gun out and threaten someone’s life. That is absurd,” said a witness.

Deputies found two guns at the scene. Two suspect cars were involved and the black SUV with the assault rifle was towed from the scene. It was impounded and the Collier County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant on it.
