MGN CAPE CORAL, Fla.- A routine check by a probation officer lands a man behind bars. Thursday night, police responded to a home near the 100 block of SE 5 St. to assist a probation officer who was checking on a probationer. While conducting the check, the officer discovered narcotics at the residence where the probationer, Jorge Alberto Hernandez, lives and he contacted the Cape Coral Police Department. A search warrant was obtained and a further search of the residence yielded 28.1 grams of crack cocaine, $1,200 of US Currency, and digital scales. Hernandez was placed under arrest for trafficking in cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and violation of probation and transported to Lee County Jail.
