CCSO to conduct CarFit checkups for seniors

Published: Updated:

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- The Collier County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting free CarFit checkups for senior citizens at Golden Gate Community Center on Wednesday, March 25.

CarFit is national program developed by AAA, AARP and the American Occupational Therapy Association and is designed to give a quick, yet comprehensive check on how well an older driver and their vehicle work together.

CCSO representatives will complete a 12-point checklist with each driver. Some of these items include: determining the correct position of the driver’s seat, the driver’s ability to easily reach pedals and proper adjustment of mirrors.

Each checkup takes approximately 20 minutes.

The Golden Gate Community Center is located at 4701 Golden Gate Parkway. Officials will be conducting checkups from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

To schedule your free appointment, contact the CCSO’s Victim & Senior Advocacy Unit at 239-252-0722.
