LEHIGH ACRES, Fla.- Firefighters battled a house fire near East 17th Street and Hamilton Avenue.

A fierce house fire mystery after a Lehigh acres home goes up in flames.
The people inside are now nowhere to be found.

It took a team of firefighters nearly 4 hours to get the blaze under control.
It happened on Hamilton Avenue this afternoon .

When crews arrived flames were shooting through the rood and thick smoke was billowing in to the air.
Neighbors tell WINK News the fire was so intense it blew out all the homes windows.

“It was coming out through the window over there, at first it didn’t look that bad then it started getting worse and worse and worse,” said neighbor Leah Dukes.

Lehigh firefighters tell WINK News the blaze was so difficult to fight because it was a wood framed home and also had to battle the wind.
It took numerous tanker trucks full of water to try and get the flames under control.

“There was a bunch of fire trucks here they got a lot of it out and then it just started engulfing again, they would get it down and then go back up,” said neighbor Sherry Velliquette.

Now the search is on for the owners of the home. Investigators say whoever was inside when the fire started was able to make it out ok, but then they took off.
