Deputies investigate a death in Immokalee

IMMOKALEE, Fla. – Collier County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating what they say appears to be a drowning near the Crestview Apartments.

Deputies received a call to the 700 block of Crestview Circle around 12:45 p.m. Sunday. A spokesperson for the sheriff’s department said they found the body of a 30-year-old man in the water.

A WINK News crew on scene said deputies and the dive team are working in the lake behind the apartments.

A witness told a WINK News crew he saw a man in the water, but did not want to go in because there is an alligator in the lake. That witness said he immediately called 911.
