LCSO deputies arrest criminal couple

LEE COUNTY, Fla.- A criminal couple who authorities say were suspects in multiple grand thefts is now behind bars.

Wednesday night, just after 6 p.m., Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies spotted 43-year-old Lisa Martinez and 31-year-old Michael Caney’s silver Kia in the Harlem Heights area.

When law enforcement approached, Caney fled on foot and Martinez took off in her vehicle.

Aviation units were able to keep with the Kia, while officers followed the vehicle to a cul-de-sac on Whitewater Court.

Police say to evade arrest, Martinez began driving on the wrong side of the road, eventually driving head on into one deputy’s vehicle.

Martinez was taken into custody and transported to the jail.

Early Thursday morning, Caney was tracked down by deputies in the McGregor/Iona area.

Both are currently in custody at the Lee County Jail, charged with two counts each of grand theft. Authorities say they are both also being held without bond.
