PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- An Ohio man who was arrested on burglary charges is now also facing charges for making methamphetamine inside the house he allegedly broke into.

On Friday, deputies arrested 30-year-old Brenton Mann, of Akron, Ohio, on burglary charges after they located Mann inside a house on Barbour Avenue.

Witnesses watched Mann walking around the back of the house and apparently disappearing inside.  They contacted the home owner, who was out of town at the time, and confirmed that nobody was supposed to be at the house. When deputies went to the house, they met Mann as he exited the rear door.

During the burglary investigation, the deputies checked the house to determine whether there were any signs of forced entry. During the check, they located items in a bedroom that were consistent with manufacturing methamphetamine.

Several of the items that were apparently in the ‘cooking’ process tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine. While the deputies were testing one sample, the testing vial exploded.  Because of the protective clothing, nobody was injured.

Monday, deputies added charges against Mann for manufacturing and possession of methamphetamine, and unlawful possession of chemicals. He is being held on a $70,000 after his first appearance hearing.
