FORT MYERS, Fla.- Police busted an armed, convicted felon who stole a car and fled from a traffic stop Monday night.

Officials say 20-year-old Otis Marchman was speeding down Fowler Street in a burgundy Hyundai sedan. Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle but they say Marchman took off.

Authorities then discovered the Hyundai was reported stolen early that same morning.

Marchman lost control of the car while traveling at a high rate of speed just north of the Hanson Street intersection on Fowler Street and crashed into a utility pole in front of Barry’s Gravely Tractors.

The vehicle rolled over several times before coming to a rest in the parking lot. Marchman fled from the stolen Hyundai on foot but was later found hiding behind a truck on nearby Katherine Street.

Marchman, a convicted felon, was found in possession of a firearm and an assortment of narcotics at the time of his arrest.

He is now facing multiple charges including theft of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, possession of a firearm by convicted felon, and possession of cocaine, heroin and marijuana.
