FWC seeks bear contractors for Lee County

LEE COUNTY, Fla.- Wildlife officials say residents are seeing more bears lounging in trees and roaming backyards.

Now, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is looking to hire contractors to help trap the animals.

FWC already has about 20 bear contractors statewide; two are located in Collier County.

If your bear skills are a little rusty, wildlife officials will train you.

You get a $100  to pick up a bear carcass and $300 to trap a bear.

Applications must be submitted by March 16 and include a resume and at least three professional references and telephone contact numbers.

Applicants must have the ability to work flexible hours, a vehicle capable of hauling a small trailer and a clean criminal history with no fish or wildlife law violations.
