SWFL doctor arrested for cocaine possession out of jail on bond

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- WINK News confirms a Southwest Florida doctor arrested Friday for cocaine possession did have privileges at NCH Healthcare System.

Gregory Casey is now out of jail on bond, facing multiple felony charges including DUI and cocaine possession.

Casey was arrested on US 41 near Vanderbilt Beach Road. Deputies say Casey was weaving in and out of traffic along US 41 Friday night, refusing to stop until he hit a curb.

According to authorities, he had cocaine on his nose and mouth and a drug often used to relax patients before surgery inside his car.

WINK News confirms Casey runs a private practice and he had privileges at NCH from 2005 to 2011, meaning he was not employed there but could treat his patients there.

He also currently has privileges at Physicians Regional Healthcare Systems, but they tell us he has not practiced there in quite some time.

Many people claiming to be former patients of Casey’s have expressed concern over whether he was under the influence of drugs while on the job, a question WINK News tried to get answered Monday.

WINK News wanted to know if Casey saw any patients in the hours leading up to his arrest. We reached out to Casey’s attorney who would not answer any questions.

WINK News also called Casey himself but got no answer.

His next court appearance is later in March.
