Greek Fest comes to an end, makes a lasting impression

Published: Updated:

FORT MYERS, Fla. -Over the weekend, you had the chance to experience the culture of Greece without ever leaving Southwest Florida.

The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Fort Myers has been hosting Greek Fest for 40 years.

The event gives you the chance to taste amazing food, learn the language, and try out some of your dance moves among other things.

It’s all a fundraiser for the church, that is building a brand new Sunday school.

“We have a number of families here, and our children are learning the faith,” said Jen-Hope Belis, Chairperson for the Greek Festival. “They have Sunday school classes every Sunday. We have a Greek language program that we’re starting up, and now we have a facility to really have that and expand it.”

The new school building will be replacing temporary trailers they have used for the past 20 years.  It’s expected to open this spring.
