College Football Hall-of-Famer stops by Naples

NAPLES, Fla. – College Football Hall-of-Famer Lou Holtz was in Naples on Thursday Night as the keynote speaker for Ave Maria’s Scholarship Banquet at the Ritz-Carlton.

The former Notre Dame and New York Jets Head Coach shared some insight on Florida State Quarterback Jameis Winston — and if the Tampa Bay Bucs should draft him first overall.

“You look at all the great quarterbacks in the NFL. You can go Manning, you can go Flacco. You can go Brady, Russell Wilson, on down the line. None of them had any baggage coming into the league, none of them had any since they been in the league,” said Holtz.

Holtz raved about Winston’s talent on the field and said he would still be torn between drafting Oregon’s Marcus Mariota or Winston first overall.
