New Details: Lee County teacher arrested for sending racy texts to student

Published: Updated:

LEE COUNTY, Fla.- WINK uncovered new court documents in the case of 29-year-old Tara Roberts, the River Hall Elementary School teacher who lost her job last year in Alva.

The documents show Roberts previously had inappropriate contact with a minor in 2004, when she was 19 years old.

The documents go on to say there was an injunction against Roberts for repeated violence in that case, and that Roberts violated that injunction again in 2006.

Lee County deputies arrested Roberts back in November, after she reportedly told a 12-year-old student she loved him, and sent him photos of herself wearing a bra and underwear.

Wednesday, WINK News did some digging, and found Robert’s estranged husband has filed for divorce since her arrest.

In the divorce documents, Roberts’ husband asked a judge to order his wife to “go under a psycho sexual exam, to determine the level of risk she poses to her 19 month old son.”

Roberts faces charges of computer pornography and cruelty toward a child.

After her arrest, Roberts was fired from the Lee County School District.

WINK News asked the district why Roberts was hired with an injunction in her past. We were told an injunction is not an arrest and would not show up on a background check.
