Dunbar girls advance to State Championship, four boys teams advance to Region Finals

The Dunbar girls basketball team jumped out to a 24-1 lead and held on to beat Cardinal Newman, 61-39 in the Class 4A State Semifinal game. Senior Keri Jewett led the Tigers in scoring with 15 points and will now have the chance to win her second state championship after winning one as a freshman.

Dunbar (24-4) will play Orlando Lake Highland Prep (28-2) for the state championship on Wednesday at 8:05 p.m. The Highlanders upset Jacksonville Ribault in the semifinals.

WINK Sports will be at the Lakeland Center to provide full coverage of the Tigers championship game on Wednesday night.

Four area boys basketball teams advanced to Region Championship games on Tuesday as well. Dunbar, Lehigh, Golden Gate and First Baptist are all one win away from the state final four.
