SANIBEL ISLAND, Fla. – A 70-year-old man, his daughter and his grandson were rescued seven miles west of Sanibel Saturday.

Rescue crews received a call from a crew member at 2:30 p.m. saying a man had been injured and needed help. The three were on a 65-foot charter fishing boat at the time.

The three people were taken to Fort Myers Beach, then the man was medevaced to a local hospital.

“It’s always best, during incidents like this, for us to have all relevant medical information,” said Petty Officer 2nd Class Grant Lacy, the officer of the day at the station. “We were able to aid this man further because we had a distinct timeline of events and medical history.”
