Crime Stoppers search for 3 men in home invasion robbery

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla.- Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help identifying and tracking down three men who robbed an 89-year-old woman in broad daylight Thursday afternoon.

Police say the robbers made off with cash and some of the victim’s personal belongings.

According to detectives, the victim was sitting in the bedroom of her home on 24th Street W. around 2 p.m. when three masked men crawled through a partially opened window.

One of the suspects spoke to the victim in Spanish, telling her to remain calm, while the other two ransacked the senior citizen’s home.

Authorities say no weapons were displayed during the crime. After collecting an undisclosed amount of cash and property, the men walked out the front door and left in a grey vehicle.

“These men terrorized a senior citizen in the sanctity and safety of her own home,” said Trish Routte, Crime Stoppers Coordinator. “We’re hoping that someone may have seen these men in the area this afternoon, or even in days prior, since the robbery took place in the middle of the afternoon. It’s imperative to identify and locate these men so that they cannot put another resident, especially a senior citizen, through this type of trauma again.”

Anyone with information on the men responsible for the home invasion robbery are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000. Tips may also be made online at www.swflcrimestoppers.org or by texting a tip to CRIMES (274637) Keyword: REWARD.
