NAPLES, Fla-  Collier County will soon have a brand new option for their health care. NCH Healthcare system broke ground on a new facility Friday.

The $24 million facility will be located at the corner of Immokalee Road and Collier Boulevard.

“It just marks another good milestone in the growth of Collier County and Southwest Florida,” said Allen Weiss, President and CEO of NCH Healthcare System.

The facility will be nearly 40,000 square feet. It will have a full service emergency room and 10 physicians under one roof.

“This is the area they’re starting to inhabit and this is where, as a hospital system, we have to know where to deliver our services, where the people are, we don’t want them traveling 30 miles to get to a hospital,” said Mariann Macdonald, Chairman of the board for NCH Healthcare.

In 2013, more than 120,000 people lived within five miles of the new site scheduled to open in November.

Weiss tells WINK News he expects that number to increase. “So it’s matching the growing of the community as we come out to the Immokalee corridor, which is a major artery for Southwest Florida.”
