FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) – Five people were rescued after their boat capsized in the Atlantic Ocean off Fort Lauderdale Beach.

Authorities say one person called 911 from a cell phone and guided rescuers to the scene Wednesday night.

When crews arrived four people were clinging to the boat while one was missing in the water. Rescue divers found him and he was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The other four were taken to the Coast Guard station in Dania Beach. They were not injured.

Fort Lauderdale Deputy Fire Chief Timothy Heiser said the men were fishing when the boat capsized. Heiser says the water was rough Wednesday night.

Officials haven’t released the names of the boaters.
