NAPLES, Fla.- Staff members at the Conservancy of Southwest Florida got some hands-on training with live pythons Wednesday. It was all part of an effort to control the invasive species locally. Python Patrol trainings teach people how to identify, report and safely capture pythons. Florida Wildlife Commission and the Conservancy of Southwest Florida are working together to train natural resource workers who may encounter this species in the field. This program creates a network of citizen scientists to help stop the spread of this large, invasive snake. Approximately 20 Conservancy of Southwest Florida staff members participated in the training.
