Florida International Air Show ‘exploring fall show’

PUNTA GORDA, Fla.- The Florida International Air Show may take flight this year after all.

After canceling the annual March event, the board tells WINK News they decided Tuesday night to explore a fall 2015 show, likely to be held in October.

They say it’s a quick turnaround, so if they are unable to make it happen for fall of 2015, they will begin to plan the air show for fall of 2016.

The board has a plan in place to decide whether or not having the air show this year is possible. They will begin with meeting with airport officials to choose a possible date.

Air show organizers will then check to see if performers are available during this time. They also plan to check with existing vendors and continue to seek out new sponsors as well.

The board tells WINK News they will also resubmit a request for financial help from Charlotte County and the Visitor’s Bureau. The last step will be to meet with the many charities involved in the event to see if they are available in the fall.

The board hopes to make a final decision at the end of this month. Trust WINK News to stay on top of this story.
