ESTERO, Fla.- Florida Highway Patrol Troopers are investigating a single car crash Sunday night that left two people dead and sent one to the hospital.

Troopers spent six hours on Six L’s Farm Road, just off Corkscrew Road, when the crash happened just before 11 p.m.

FHP says the driver and passenger were both killed when their SUV left the road and rolled over into a tree.

Another passenger was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital in critical condition. FHP has not yet released the victims’ identities.

A witness says the three men in the SUV are from South Carolina.

“Two gentlemen were laying on the ground, one had been ejected from the right side of the passenger side and was on the left side of the vehicle and the other gentleman, that was still alive, was ejected out the back and laying on the ground here.”

Investigators tell WINK News, the car could’ve been traveling 70-80 mph.
