CAPE CORAL, Fla.- A family is on the hunt for a driver they say slammed into two of their cars and drove off.

One car is totaled and it couldn’t have come at a worse time for the family.

Esteban Rosario was getting ready to go to church with his family Sunday morning when he saw someone had crashed into his truck overnight.

“That one’s pretty much a total loss, the whole frame is bent.”

Rosario asked WINK News not to show his face. He lives on Southeast 9th Avenue, near 6th Street.

He says his family is already living paycheck to paycheck trying to make ends meet. To make matters worse, he had just bought the truck to use for work the week before.

“I haven’t even paid it off, so I’m still paying for a car that I can’t drive.”

The crash also left dents and scratches on his wife’s Camry.

A crash report shows how the cars were sitting in the driveway when they were hit. If they weren’t there, the report says the car could have gone straight into Rosario’s son’s bedroom.

Rosario filed a police report, but “he pretty much told me without the third vehicle here, there’s really not much they can do.”

So he took matters into his own hands. He found two parts that fell off the suspect’s car and matched the serial numbers to a Toyota Sienna.

“Every time I see a Sienna, I’m looking at the front end to see if I see any damage on it.”

So far he hasn’t had any luck, and just wants whoever is responsible to come forward.

“I really just think it’s a shame that somebody would do this. You gotta understand not everybody can afford to take an impact like this.”

If you think you can help with this case, call the Cape Coral Police Department at 239-574-3223.
