GAINESVILLE, Fla.- Seneca Milledge, 14, won the 55 meter dash in the 15-16 year old race at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational on Saturday.

His time of 6.53 seconds at the Gainesville meet was a national indoor record for the 15-16 year old age group.

The Fort Myers Middle School 8th grader had the second fastest time overall at the meet. Only Gainesville High School senior Kylan Oats’ time of 6.52 was better.

Milledge also cleared 22-07 in the long jump which won his age group and was the second best mark at the meet. His 200 meter time of 23.20 seconds was the 17th fastest at the competition.

The 55 meter dash isn’t competed in on the world stage but his time converts to a 7.12 second 60 meter which is more than the world record of 6.91 seconds set by a Canadian runner in 1977.

Milledge says he hasn’t decided which high school he’s going to go to next year.
