Drug deal leads to teenager’s death

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla – Collier County deputies tell WINK News that a 17-year-old killed in Wednesday night was involved in a drug deal gone bad.

Meliton Cruz Jr. was arrested for shooting and killing 17-year-old Marcos Aleman and injuring another teenager.

The other teen told deputies they were buying weed when the shooting happened.

Meliton Cruz Jr. had a detention hearing in court on Friday, because he is underage.

Collier County deputies say Aleman died on the scene while 18-year-old Michael Stallone ran to a neighbor’s house to call 911.

Aleman attended Palmetto Ridge High School and Beacon High School in Collier County.  The school district says counselors are at both schools to help students deal with their grief.
