COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- A crash involving three vehicles shut down all lanes of Alligator Alley in both directions Thursday morning. The accident happened near mile marker 64 just after 11 a.m. Deputies say a woman in her 60s was driving eastbound in a Nissan sports coupe when she crossed over the grass median and slammed into a truck and a car at a high rate of speed. According to officials, she was killed instantly. The drivers of the other two vehicles were flown to the hospital with serious injuries. As a result of the crash, a power pole located on the north side of I-75 was broken at the base. Two westbound lanes remain closed at this time. Eastbound lanes are now open.
