NAPLES, Fla.- Detectives say a 73-year-old woman stole from a local jewelry store and it was all caught on camera.  The most bizarre part of the story is how detectives tracked her down.

“She was very confident,” said Shannon Long, co-owner of Shannon Green Collection on 8th Street South.  “She quickly stole the ring.  We captured it all on our cameras.”

Long tells WINK News if it wasn’t for the store’s high-tech security cameras, they may have never found the woman who stole $5,000 worth of jewelry. Naples police say that woman is 73-year-old Dinah Wright.

“She stayed for a few moments after thanked us very much, she took a book of matches and she left,” said Long.

Long reviewed the surveillance video from Thursday afternoon and took a picture of the mystery woman next door to the Captain and Krewe restaurant.  It turns out, that same woman ate lunch there that afternoon and used a credit card.

“They identified her and pulled her credit card receipt where she had paid for her lunch and the detectives solved it from there,” said Long.

Detectives arrested Wright for grand theft.

“No, they did not know of her, but they figured it out quickly,” said Long.

Detectives tell WINK News that Wright confessed to the robbery and returned the jewelry to police.
