Navy Seal shoots weapons training videos in Bonita Springs

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla.- The sound of bullets could be heard coming from Bonita Springs Friday afternoon, but WINK News found out, there’s nothing to worry about.

U.S. Navy Seal John David Williamson and his production team are in town, shooting “how to” movies for weapons training.

Williamson currently teaches anti-terrorism tactics with the U.S. State Department. Now, he can add movie star to his list.

Williamson teamed up with local production company Triple Star. Together, they are shooting “how to videos” on weapon safety and pistol training.

“Taxpayers have paid for a lot of that training so I like to give something back,” said Williamson.

Williamson says this isn’t your typical movie set. It’s a how-to movie, with the Providence Equestrian Center in Bonita Springs as their movie set.

“In this, you are going to get to interact with the students. Be like you are sitting in the classroom with us,” said Williamson.

Having never touched a gun before, just like Williamson’s students, I decided to join the class. Williamson took me through shooting, step by step.

We started with an Air Soft gun, and our worked our way up to a 45 caliber.

Williamson says besides safety and skills, he’s also teaching confidence. He is offering personal lessons Saturday at the Equestrian Center, as well as a chance to meet the cast and crew.

They’ll be offering lessons from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.
