PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office says a 6-year-old boy died after drowning in a pool. It happened on a home on Rome Street, near Beacon Drive. The Sheriff’s Office told WINK News late Thursday night the boy was 6-years-old, not 4 years-old, as paramedics first reported. Authorities say there was one adult home at time, but it was not the child’s parent. The boy was rushed to Bayfront Health Port Charlotte where he was pronounced dead. WINK News is working to learn the boy’s identity, how he ended up in the pool and who the adult was that was home with him at the time. The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
