CAPE CORAL, Fla.- A father is desperately seeking action after his 9-year-old daughter was mauled by a neighbor’s pit bull.

Lauren Pacuicrk was attacked Sunday afternoon just feet from her dad’s house on Southwest 8th Place, near Embers Parkway.

She’s out of school Monday, recovering from the attack that her father says will affect her for the rest of her life.

“She kept screaming that she couldn’t feel her arm,” said Doug Pacuicrk, Lauren’s father.

He says she was walking home from a friend’s house around the corner, when the neighbor’s pit bull got loose.

“Lauren started to run home and the brown pit bull chased after her, bit her in the butt, let go and then grabbed her arm and shook her,” said Pacuicrk. “She was crying, she was holding her arm, there was blood everywhere, there was blood on her shirt, blood on her pants, blood on her boots.”

Pacuicrk’s daughter was rushed to the hospital, where she was treated for hours and received more than a dozen stitches.

According to the report filed by Lee County Domestic Animal Services, the dog owner’s 15-year-old daughter was walking the dog on a leash but it pulled away.

Pacuicrk wants Animal Services to remove the dog from the home.

“I’m very upset at their irresponsibility of dog ownership.”

The dog is still in the custody of its owner, but Animal Services is investigating. Their records show the dog has never attacked anyone before.

The dog’s owner tells WINK News he feels sorry about what happened, and that he is willing to give up the dog, but only if it’s not euthanized.
