HENDRY COUNTY, Fla.- On the heels of the attacks in France, WINK News is digging deeper into how you can stay safe should you ever find yourself in a dangerous and frightening situation.

A Southwest Florida company is offering training to civilians, so you can protect yourself against carjackings, active shooters and kidnapping.

It’s estimated that 66 journalists were killed reporting the news from hostile parts of the world last year.

Even more Americans working abroad have found themselves kidnapped or attacked amid dangerous circumstances.

Now, there’s a local company working to get people prepared.

Lars Nagatt has seen his share of battlefields. The war-zone intelligence-operation trainer has left the terrorist breeding grounds of the Middle East, and is now training civilians, along with non-government employees, heading out to the world’s most hostile environments.

At Centurion Intelligence Partners, the trainers say they can duplicate nearly any hostage situation.

They even have a “kill room,” where people are shown what to do if they’re ever taken hostage.

CIP’s program in the Everglades, on the site of a former prison, is tailored specifically for civilians who might find themselves in frightening scenarios.
